WHY DOES THIS MAN REMIND YOU OF
MARTHA GRAHAM?

The answer to that question is that Richard Move is the late, great dancer in "Ghostlight," to be shown at the New School on June 8 as part of the 15th anniversary of the New York Lesbian & Gay Film Festival. A description of "Ghostlight," courtesy of the festival, is provided below. The series runs from June 5 through June 15.

GHOSTLIGHT

Christopher Herrmann
(USA, 35 mm, 80 min.)
Legendary dancer Martha Graham is paid homage to in this remarkable film, in which a documentary filmmaker, Barbara, (Ann Magnuson) gains unprecedented access to the diva's creative process as she mounts a new production. Martha, uncannily portrayed by performance artist Richard Move, faces financial and personal turmoil as she struggles to bring the story of Phaedra to the stage. Always carefully guarded, she opens up slowly to Barbara, but never fully reveals herself, letting her expressive and mesmerizing dance speak for her instead. A loving tribute by Graham's biographer and confidante, Christopher Herrmann, and featuring cameos by luminaries such as Deborah Harry, Mark Morris, and Isaac Mizrahi.
